Verna Lucille HART (^) was born on 4 June 1921 in Monroe County, WI.⁹¹ She appeared in the census in 1930 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.⁸⁶ She graduated in 1939 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI. from Tomah High School. Verna died on 25 November 2009 at the age of 88 in La Crosse, La Crosse County, WI.¹³⁵ Obituary Notes: "Verna L. Burrows, of Holmen and formerly of Oakdale, passed away peacefully at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse on Nov. 25, 2009, at the age of 88. Verna was born June 14, 1921, in Warrens, to Riley and Eva (Vroman) Hart. She was united in marriage to Vilas “Pat” Burrows in April of 1941.

She is survived by a daughter Patricia (Jon) Schuster; a son, Robert “Skip” (Julie Allshouse) Burrows; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; six sisters, Arja, Donna, Rita, Patty, Betty and Beverly; two brothers Kenny and Ronnie; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Pat in 1977; her daughter Judy, February 9, 1943; six sister, Bernice, Anna, Carol, Arlieta, Bonnie and June; and her brother, David.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, 1 p.m. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau Street, Tomah. The Very Reverend Steven J. Kachel will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Tomah.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the services.

Memorials in memory of Verna may be given to St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 302 W. Monroe Street, Tomah.

Verna Lucille HART (^) and Vilas John BURROWS were married in April 1941.^65,136,137 (His surname was originally spelled "Burroughs.") Vilas John BURROWS, son of Robert G. BURROWS and Mayme V. LYONS, was born on 12 June 1921 in Monroe County, WI.^91,138,139 He died on 26 January 1977 at the age of 55 in Wisconsin.¹³⁹ He was buried in 1977 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.¹³⁸ in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
