Tralmer, age 40, died tragically on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008, at the home of his parents. Joel fought a grueling battle with clinical depression and sadly lost the war. He was born on June 4, 1968, to Terry and Anna Mae (Kiefer) Tralmer in Tomah, WI. Joel was the loving proud father of two daughters, Macey, age 12, and Tori, age 8, of Onalaska. His daughters were the reason he fought his disease as long and as hard as he could. He loved his job and the people he worked with at the water department for the City of Onalaska. Joel attended Tomah High School, graduating in 1986. He was a very successful high school athlete. Following high school, he attended the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and was a proud member of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse football team. Joel enjoyed the outdoors. Lawn care, hunting and fishing were his avid hobbies. He loved and was loved by his younger sister Jami and his younger brother Chad. Their family has always withstood the hardships of life by their deep and constant love for one another. Joel’s kind and gentle demeanor will be missed by all. In addition to his two daughters, Macey and Tori Tralmer of Onalaska, Joel is survived by his parents, Terry and Anna Mae of Tomah; his maternal grandmother, Don Elaine (Augie) Zimmerman of Tomah; his brother, Chad Tralmer (Sherri) of Tomah; his sister, Jami Tralmer of Eau Claire; his ex-wife, Dena Swanson of Onalaska; aunts and uncles, Lamont (Dilynn) Kiefer of Tomah, Kay Saunders of Florida, Sharon Gilson of Chicago, IL, Tim Tralmer of Tomah; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Howard and Alice Tralmer and Donald Kiefer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Sept. 20, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tomah. The Very Rev. Steven J. Kachel will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Tomah. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Friday, Sept. 19, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association. The Torkelson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements."
