First St., will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Candlish Funeral Chapel. She died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1981, at St. Agnes Hospital. The Rev. Verlyn C. Harr will officiate, and burial will be in the Avoca Cemetery, Oakfield. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel. She was born July 15, 1888, in the Town of Byron, a daughter of the late Nathaniel and Isabelle Wattrous Phelps. On June 22, 1916, she was married to Lynn Briggs at Oakfield. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Alice E. Mauthe of Fond du Lac and Mrs. Leslie (Bernice) Egbert of McLean, Va.; three sons, Verol of Odessa, Texas, Rev. Alvin of Bruce, Wis., and Dale of West Bend; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on June 30, 1946, and by a grandson, great-grandson, four sisters and two brothers." Memorialsmay be directed to Covenant United Methodist Church. Elsie Bell PHELPS and Lynn Wilson BRIGGS were married on 22 June 1916 in Oakfield Township, Fond du Lac County, WI.36 They had seven children, all probably born in Byron.)
