Descendants of Johann Daniel Witte, Sr.

Johann Daniel Witte, Sr., and his wife, Dorothea Sophia Zieman, were born in Pommern Province of Prussia in the 1770's.

Their sons, Christian and Johann, Jr., emigrated to America in the 1870’s and settled in Monroe County. Their children married into families such as Zinke and Wistow.

In the 1880's, some of their descendants changed the spelling of their family name to "Witt."
