After 1858 he was a farmer in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.^6,7 He purchased 640 acres in Sections 22, 27 and 28. About 1860 he was a deacon in the Baptist Church in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.⁷ Simeon appeared in the census in 1860 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.²¹ He appeared in the census in 1870 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.²³ He appeared in the census in 1880 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.¹⁰ His occupation was listed as "Farmer." Simeon died on 5 December 1899 at the age of 82 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.⁶ He was buried in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.²² in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Deacon Simeon D. WOOD III and Mary Jane PIERCE were married on 2 September 1838 in Thompson, Windham County, CT.^6,9,24 Mary Jane PIERCE, daughter of William Augustus PIERCE and Polly Guild RICHARDSON, was born on 21 January 1821 in Heath, Franklin County, MA.^6,9,10,21 She appeared in the census in 1860 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.²¹ She appeared in the census in 1870 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.²³ Mary appeared in the census in 1880 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.¹⁰ She died on 16 February 1907 at the age of 86 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.^6,20 She was buried in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.²² in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
