1. Dr. Samuel Ellis WOOD I was born on 28 April 1655 in Oldham, Lancashire, England.1 He died in 1714 at the age of 59 in Danbury, Fairfield County, Connecticut Colony, British Colonial America.1 Life Sketch: "Doctor Samuel Wood was born and educated for his profession in England. Sailing for America, he appears to have landed in Massachusetts Bay district. 2.

Moved to Norwalk after marriage, he was a very early settler of Danbury, Connecticut, and he died in 1714 (Local and Family Histories: CT, 1600s-1800s New England Families, vol.III, Genealogies and Memorials. p.1395 Wood.)

Dr. Samuel Wood, immigrant ancestor, was born in England. It is said that he landed first in Massachusetts, and settled soon afterward in Norwalk, Connecticut. In 1685-86 he settled in Danbury, Connecticut, with the pioneers soon after the first settlement of the town.

He stood high in his profession and was a lending citizen. His residence was on Deer Hill, west of the county jail. He married Rebecca, born on Long Island, 1660, daughter of Thomas Benedict. Dr. Wood died in 1714, leaving a goodly estate."
He was buried in Danbury, Fairfield County, Connecticut Colony, British Colonial America.1
