Descendants of Dr. Samuel Ellis Wood I

Dr. Samuel Ellis Wood I and his wife, Rebecca Benedict, were born in England in the mid-1600's and are the earliest-known ancestors of the many Wood family members that lived in Monroe County.

One of their descendants, Pardon Arnold Wood, and his wife, Julia Ann Fuller, were born in the early-1800's in Vermont and moved to Monroe County in the 1870's. Their nine children married into Monroe County families such as Root, Steele, Sutherland, Woodruff and Edwards.
