Descendants of Johann Wilhelm Christoph Zahrte

Johann Wilhelm Christoph Zahrte and his wife, Dorothea Maria Gebberts, were born in the Hannover Province of Prussia, in the mid-1700's.

Their son Joseph and his wife Catherine Lehmker were born there in the early-1800's and emigrated to America in 1866. They settled in Lincoln Township and their three sons and a daughter married into families such as Hemming, Wittler, Severloh and Heine.

Johann and Dorothea are the earliest known ancestors of all of the Zahrte family members who have lived in the Tomah area.
