57. Johann Daniel ZELLMER was born on 24 March 1817 in Jankendorf, Kreis Kolmar, Posen Province, Preussen (Prussia).13,15,17,19,21,24,60 (His surname was spelled "Zelmer" in the church marriage record for his daughter Wilhelmine.)

(In some sources, his birth place is listed as "Frankfort-on-Oder, Brandenburg Province, Preussen (Prussia)." According to the Jankendorf church register, he was born in the same place as his siblings and parents--Jankendorf, Kreis Kolmar, in Posen Province. A note in the register states, "To the master tailor Christoph Zellmer and his wife Anna Christina nee Krentz (sic) was born a son on March 24 in the morning, who on March 30 was named (baptized) Johann Daniel.") He emigrated in 1854 from Preussen (Prussia).76 to Watertown, WI. After 1856 he was a farmer in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.76 Johann appeared in the census in 1860 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.66 He was listed as "Daniel Selmer" and his occupation was "Farmer." He was Lutheran on 1 April 1862 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.22,61,62 He was listed in the Church Register as member number 4 of the first 100 members of the congregation of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a charter member and one of the first trustees of the church. He donated the land for the church's cemetery. He and his family were listed in the church Communion Records in the early-1890's. He appeared in the census in 1870 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.25 He was listed as "Daniel Zelmar" and his occupation was "Farmer." Johann appeared in the census in 1880 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.19 His occupation was listed as "Farmer." He died on 3 April 1895 at the age of 78 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.13,15,24,60 He was buried on 5 April 1895 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.13,24,60 in the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Johann Daniel ZELLMER and Anna Karoline "Caroline" RAEDEL were married on 13 June 1847.13,15,49,76,77 The 1900 Census indicates that they had 9 children, of whom 4 were still living. Anna Karoline "Caroline" RAEDEL, daughter of Michael RAEDEL and Anna Justine JOKER, was born on 5 February 1828 in Aschenforth, Kreis Kolmar, Posen Province, Preussen (Prussia).1,13,15,17,19,24,49,62,78,79,80,81 Her surname is spelled "Raedel" in the Jankendorf church records. The St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ridgeville, church records use "Redel" because that would have been the "Americanized" spelling. For example, it was spelled "Redel" in the church Communion Record in the early-1890's and in the marriage record of her son Christopher. However, she was listed as "Witfrau Caroline Redell" in her church death record. In some sources, it is spelled "Roedel," but that is believed to have been incorrect.
