Obituary Notes: "Verlyn Davis, 71, of Tomah passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at his home, with his loving family by his side. He was born June 4, 1940, to Daniel and Elizabeth (Schaefer) Davis. He was confirmed at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ridgeville, in 1954. He worked as an appliance repairman for Hansen Furniture Store until 1962. Then Verlyn worked as a line worker for American Motors in Kenosha. Starting in 1966, he was employed by Farnum Industries as a pressman and supervisor. Verlyn retired from Cenex and Midland Co-op, where he had worked as an LP truck driver for more than 25 years.

He was married Sept. 12, 1992, to Paula Marie Catlin at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Verlyn was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and camping. He also enjoyed working with his hands and spending time woodworking. Verlyn assisted in building the Sportsmans Club in Camp Douglas. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He enjoyed cheering for and was a fan of the Green Bay Packers, the Milwaukee Brewers and Dale Earnhardt Racing.

Verlyn had a very strong and active faith in his Lord. He was a founding and building member of the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church. He was active as a Sunday school teacher as well as leading devotions at local area nursing homes and assisted living homes and was a founding member of the Royal Rangers.

He was a loving and caring man and had a gentle and kind personality. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends and was a proud grandfather. Over the past couple of years, Verlyn enjoyed spending time with a very special brother-in-law, Danny Albrecht, who became a tremendous helper to Verlyn. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Paula of Tomah; three children, Robert (Susie) Davis of Hudson, Michael (Shelly) Davis of Tomah and Barry (Lynn) Davis of Oakdale; seven grandchildren, Kelly (Jerry) Edwards, Kathy, Joshua, Padin, Travis, MaKayla and Hunter; one great-granddaughter, Joslynn; three stepgrandchildren, Chad, Callie and Kathy; a stepgranddaughter, Mya; five sisters, Donna (Danny) Albrecht, Leatha (Brad) Oates, Lena Oakes and Miriam (Keith) Bitz, all of Tomah, and Peggy (Grant) Moseley of Warrens; his mother-in-law, Margaret Catlin; a brother, Daniel (Linda) Davis of Tomah; an aunt, Bertha Geier of Sparta; an uncle, Joe Kast of Mindoro; two brothers-in-law, Robert (Barbara) Zook of Leola, Pa., and Bobby Titsworth of Koshkong, Mo.; his first wife, Arliss Davis of Tomah; many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends and two very special pets, Pebbles and Maxie Boy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandchild; and three sisters, Barbara Davis, Betty Jean Titsworth and Margaret Bitz.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 23, at Lighthouse Assembly of God Church, Tomah. Pastor Tom Coleman will officiate. Burial will be in the Wyeville Cemetery, with military honors. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. The Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, Tomah, is assisting the family with arrangements."

Verlyn Dean DAVIS and Paula Marie CAITLIN were married on 12 September 1992 in Nashua, Chickasaw County, IA.161 Paula Marie CAITLIN, daughter of Eldon CAITLIN and Margaret REIPRICH, was born on 6 June 1947.162 She died on 4 December 2013 at the age of 66 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.162

Obituary Notes: "Paula Marie Catlin-Davis, 66, of Tomah died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at Tomah Memorial Hospital. She was born on June 6, 1947, to Eldon and Margaret (Reiprich) Catlin. She was a member of the Tomah High School graduating class of 1965.

On Sept. 12, 1992, Paula was united in marriage to Verlyn Davis. He preceded her in death on July 12, 2011. She worked more than 30 years as the ward secretary at the Tomah Memorial Hospital. Paula always enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She had a bright personality and loved to wear all kinds of rings, necklaces, and bracelets. She enjoyed attending all kinds of gifts parties and collecting antiques and knick knacks.

She is survived by three stepchildren, Robert (Susie) Davis of Hudson, Michael (Shelly) Davis of Tomah, and Barry (Lynn) Davis of Oakdale; 10 stepgrandchildren, Kelly (Jerry) Edwards, Kathy, Joshua, Padin, Travis, MaKayla and Hunter, Chad, and Callie, Mya; one stepgreat-granddaughter, Joslynn; one sister, Barbara (Robert) Zook of Leola, Pa.; five sisters-in-law, Donna (Danny) Albrecht, Leatha (Brad) Oates, Lena Oakes and Miriam (Keith) Bitz all of Tomah, Peggy (Grant) Moseley of Warrens, a sister-in-law, Linda Davis of Onalaska; a brother-in-law, Bobby Titsworth of Koshkong, Mo.; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Verlyn; her parents, Eldon (Curly) and Margaret Catlin; three sisters-in-law, Barbara Davis, Betty Jean Titsworth, and Margaret Bitz; and one brother-in-law, Daniel Davis.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church, Tomah. Pastor Frank Ross will officiate. Burial will be in the Wyeville Cemetery."
