Margarethe "Margaret" ZIEGLER and Karl Wilhelm "William" NAUMANN were married on 11 February 1869 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.2,6,13 Karl Wilhelm "William" NAUMANN was born on 19 June 1848 in Sitzenroda, Kreis Torgau, Sachsen (Saxony) Province, Preussen (Prussia).2,10,13,14 (His surname was spelled "Naumann" in the baptism record of his son Johannes.) He appeared in the census in 1880 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.10 He was Lutheran in 1889 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.15 He and his family are listed in the Communion Register of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. William died on 8 August 1914 at the age of 66 in Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.2,13 Life Sketch: "William Charles Nauman (June 19, 1848-August 8, 1914) was born in Germany and came to the United States with his parents and brothers at the age of seven to escape conscription into the German Army.

Later, the Civil War started, he was only fourteen and didn't serve. His brothers, 16 and 18, enlisted. They were living in Dane County.

He later moved to Monroe County and married Margaret Ziegler (November 15, 1848- July 28, 1934) February 11, 1869. Their children were: John William "Bill" (December 26, 1869-February 26, 1960) married Bertha Anna Schultz (March 6, 1877-September 6, 1944) October 7, 1895; Frederick Rudolph (February 26, 1872 --January 5, 1958) married Tressie Schanofer; Ida Mae (December 31, 1877-August 1964); George (September 19, 1878--March 15, 1938); Albert Lorenz (February 25, 1885-April 2, 1916) married Amelia Janke; Rose(1887-1937) married Fred Davenport; and Henry (February 17, 1890--January 1977) married Ernestine Schaefer." He was buried in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.2 at the Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery.
