209. John W. VANDERVORT was born in June 1863 in New York.⁴⁰⁶ (According to the 1900 Census, his father was born in New York and his mother in England.) He appeared in the census in 1870 in Delaware, Sullivan County, NY.⁹⁹ He appeared in the census in 1880 in Delaware, Sullivan County, NY.²⁰³ He was living with his parents and his occupation was "Laborer." John appeared in the census in 1900 in Westfall, Pike County, PA.⁴⁰⁶ His household was located in the Matamoras area and his occupation was "Locomotive Engineer." His surname was spelled "Vandervoort."

. He died before probably 1910 at the age of 47 in Pennsylvania.⁴⁰⁷ (He and his wife cannot be located in the 1910 Census. It is believed that they both had died before then, because their son John was living with William Cook.)

John W. VANDERVORT and Henrietta UNKNOWN (VANDERVORT) were married about 1885.⁴⁰⁶ According to the 1900 Census, they had been married for 15 years and had 8 children, of whom 3 were living at the time.

. Henrietta UNKNOWN (VANDERVORT) was born in August 1871 in New York.⁴⁰⁶ (According to the 1900 Census, her parents were born in New York State.) She appeared in the census in 1900 in Westfall, Pike County, PA.⁴⁰⁶ She died before probably 1910 at the age of 39 in Pennsylvania.⁴⁰⁷

. He appeared in the census in 1910 in Milford, Pike County, PA.⁴⁰⁷ He was listed as a "Son" in the household of William and Susan Cook, but he was actually a "Stepson." It is likely that William had worked with John's father, as they both worked for the railroad.

William, age 43, a Widower, was born in New York, and his occupation was "Engineer, Locomotive." Susan, age 76, a Widow, was William's mother, was born in Germany, and emigrated to America in 1861. Their household was on Pennsylvania Avenue.

. John appeared in the census in 1920 in Westfall, Pike County, PA.⁴⁰⁸ He was listed as a "Stepson" in the household of William Cook, and his occupation was "Fireman, Locomotive."
