On Dec. 20, 1753 at Tolland, she m. Jonathan Lothrop, s. of Capt. & Dea. John Lothrop, Esq. & Ann Thacher, b. at Tolland, Conn. on Sept. 18, 1727 and d. there on July 21, 1807, Æ 80. They had one child b. one week prior to Rachel's death, namesake dau. Rachel, who is detailed in her father's separate memorial. As with all related Lothrop family at Tolland, at the time of Rachel (Ladd) Lothrop's death the family surname was Lothrop consistent with its immigrant ancestor, Rev. John Lothrop of Barnstable, Mass. However, as explained under Rachel's grandfather-in-law, Capt. Hope Lothrop, the Tolland Lothrop's either adopted or acquiesced to the spelling of Lathrop in the early 1800s.
