He appeared in the census in 1905 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.⁶⁷ He was listed as "Louie" and was a "Boarder" in the household of Fred and Minnie Gnewikow. He was listed as Married, but it believed that his wife had died before then. Louis died on 14 August 1905 at the age of 77 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.^286,751 At the time of his death, he was 77 years, 7 months and 2 days old.
