| iii. | Edward GRISWOLD (~)311,1005 was born on 26 July 1607 in Wooton Wawen, Warwickshire, England.193,1087,1089,1175,1176 History of the early Griswolds in America: "Edward Griswold, of Windsor, born at Kenilworth, in Warwickshire, 1607, as tradition says, came, it is always said, with Rev. Ephraim Huit, though it is certainly wrong, for his (Edward's) son George testified that he was born 1638, and "lived in his youthful years" with his father an uncle at Kenilworth, Eng. Before coming to Windsor, he (Edward) had Francis, George, John and Sarah, probably all born in England, and he had, at Windsor, Ann, born 1642, in which year John died there; Mary, 1644; Doborah, 1646; Joseph, 1648; Samuel, 1649; John, again, 1652; removed about 1664 to Killingworth. He was representative 1658-61 for W. (Windsor) and after for K. (Killingworth). His son Francis and brother Matthew, as well as himself, were representatives in one court. Francis Griswold, of Cambridge, 1639, perhaps brother of the preceding, perhaps cousin by wife Mary, had Mary, born 1639; Hannah, 1643, died at 2 mos.; and Hannah, again, 1645; was freeman 1645, lived at Charlestown 1649, and died soon. Matthew Griswold, of Saybrook, younger brother of Edward, and perhaps of first Francis, came from Warwickshire, Kenilworth being his native place, and possibly with Rev. Ephraim Huit, married Ann, daughter of first Henry Wolcott, had two sons and three daughters, but dates of birth are unknown, except that Matthew, perhaps not the oldest, was born 1653; was representative of S. (Saybrook) often, and of Lyme after the division of the old town; calls himself 66 years old in 1684, and died 1699; his widow then 79. Michael Griswold, of Wethersfield, had Thomas, born 1646; Esther, 1648; Mary 1650; Michael, 1652, probably died young; Abigail, 1655; Isaac, 1658; Jacob, 1660; Sarah, 1662; and Michael, again, 1667."
