| iii. | John GRESWOLD V The Elder was born about 1510 in Warwickshire, England.1089 Life Sketch: "Despite the repeated assertion by some contributors, the wife of this John Greswold, called John the Elder, is UNKNOWN. (see "The Griswold Family: 12 Generations in England," 1999 ed., p. 43). He did not marry Isabell Saunders--his son John married Isabell, who was possibly Isabell SAUNDERS. This John Greswold, called John the Elder, 1510-1583, was the son of John and an UNKNOWN mother. HIS WIFE HAS NOT BEEN IDENTIFIED. They had 8 children:

*Three girls. John the Elder, was born about 1510. He took over the South Rookery farm by 1548. He made his will there in 1578 and died 15 May 1583 in South Rookery, England. We assume he was born in Warwickshire, England, because his father was born and died in Rowington, Warwickshire. His father John, born about 1472 in Rowington, Warwickshire, England, is the son of John Greswold, Esq. who was born about 1440. John Greswold's wife has not been identified. He died 20 Jun 1515 in Rowington. He had children:
*Thomas born about 1495, died 1578, married (ancestors of American immigrant Francis GRISWOLD);
*Roger born about 1504, died before 27 Jan 1546/46, married Margaret;
*and John, the Elder, born about 1510, died 15 May 1583." He died on 15 May 1583 at the age of 73 in South Rookery, Rowington, Warwickshire, England.1089 |
