2836. Cornet Thomas "Tom" DEWEY II "Duee the Settler" (*) was born in June 1605 in Sandwich, Kent County, England. (Cornet was originally the lowest grade of commissioned officer in a British cavalry troop, the modern equivalent being a Second Lieutenant.) He emigrated in 1633 from England, United Kingdom. He became a "Freeman" on 14 May 1634. He was one of the original "grantees" of Dorchester, Mass. in 1633. He moved to Windsor in 1635. He died on 21 April 1648 at the age of 42 in Windsor Township, Hartford County, Connecticut Colony, British Colonial America. Tom was buried on 27 April 1648 in Westfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts Bay Colony, British Colonial America. in the Mechanic Street Cemetery, also known as "The Old Burial Ground." Gary and Barbara Griggs visited the cemetery in 2004.

His is the earliest known burial in the cemetery. His gravestone contains the names of Thomas (died 1648), Jedediah (a son) (1647-1718), Joseph (a grandson) (1684-1757), Joseph (1714-1799), Eliab. (1746-1819) and Jason (1789-1840).

Next to that gravestone is a smaller stone for Eliab. that is marked "Mass. Mil. Rev. War." It is not known what relationship Eliab. was to Thomas.

2837. Frances Clark RANDALL (*) was born in 1610 in Allington, Dorset County, England. This plaque is located in the Mechanic Street Cemetery in Westfield, MA, commemorating "the First Westfield Settlers." The cemetery contains 1,127 gravestones, covering 897 surnames. Frances is probably buried in the cemetery with her husband, but her grave has not been located with his. She died on 27 September 1690 at the age of 80 in Westfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts Bay Colony, British Colonial America.

Josiah was buried in Lebanon, New London County, Connecticut Colony, British Colonial America.
