(He was listed as age 23 in the 1850 Census and as 35 in 1860.) He appeared in the census in 1850 in Jefferson Township, Jefferson County, WI.² He was living with his father and his occupation was "Farmer." James died on 8 February 1866 at the age of 39 in Jefferson Township, Jefferson County, WI.^12,13 He was buried in 1866 in Jefferson County, WI.^9,13 on the Arity Family Farm.

She is believed to have had 6 children from her two marriages. Caroline E. EDGERTON, daughter of Charles F. EDGERTON and Mary Frances SLACK, was born on 2 November 1831 in Lebanon, New London County, CT.¹⁴ She appeared in the census in 1850 in Jefferson Township, Jefferson County, WI.² She appeared in the census in 1860 in Jefferson Township, Jefferson County, WI.¹⁰ Caroline appeared in the census in 1870 in Jefferson Township, Jefferson County, WI.¹² She appeared in the census in 1880 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.¹⁷ She appeared in the census in 1900 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.¹⁸ She was living in the household of her son Clarence. Caroline appeared in the census in 1910 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.¹⁶ She was living with her son Clarence, who was listed as the Head of Household.
