Ruth Ann GOLLNICK and Douglas P. "Doug" BAILEY were married on 3 May 1943 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.35,139 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Douglas P. "Doug" BAILEY, son of Glen BAILEY and Ada PAULSON, was born on 4 December 1921 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.139,140 He died on 7 January 2013 at the age of 91.141

"Obituary Notes: "Douglas P. Bailey, 91, of Tomah passed away Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, surrounded by his family at his home, the same farm where he was born. He was born Dec. 4, 1921, to Glen and Ada (Paulson) Bailey in Tomah. Doug was a 1940 graduate of Tomah High School.

Following high school, Doug served in the U.S. Army 32nd Red Arrow Infantry Division during World War II. While in the military, he was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Gollnick May 5, 1943, in Tomah. To this union, five children were born. Doug continued his military service when he enlisted in the National Guards in 1947, where he served until retiring in 1981, as Master Sgt. In 1962 he was called to active duty at Fort Lewis, Wash., during the Berlin Crisis.
Doug started his career in Federal Service at the VA Hospital in Tomah, where he worked as Storekeeper Supervisor. In 1963, he left the VA to work with the Wisconsin National Guard for a year and a half. He then accepted the position of Service Manager for General Motors in Tomah, until 1967, at which time he returned to Federal Service at Fort McCoy as Supply Technician where he remained until his retirement in 1978.
Following retirement, Doug enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers-in-law, Reuben and Floyd Gollnick, traveling, golfing and working part-time for Keeneā€™s Transfer in Tomah. He always had time to help his children, neighbors and friends. Doug had a love for restoring tractors and was proud to have restored 18 Ford tractors. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1382, a member of the Tomah Lions Club, Tomah American Legion Post #201, and the Tomah Memorial Hospital Board. More than anything Doug loved his family, he cherished his time with them and helped them in any way he could. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth of Tomah; his children, Kathy (Jim) Steele of Tomah, Shirley Aller, Diane (Mike) Welch and Glen (Becky Weyer) Bailey all of Tomah; grandchildren, Ryan (Shana) Steele, Aaron Steele (friend, Aleda), Aubrey (Troy) Gilson, Misha (Neil) Bolstad, Whitney (Corey) Harris, Koral Bailey (friend, David Reeher) and Jaden Bailey (friend, Emilee Smith); great-grandchildren, Sierra and Ashton Steele, Jesse Johnson, Cylis and Simon Brummund; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Reuben Gollnick, Floyd (Carolyn) Gollnick and Zetta (Fritz) Fredrickson; and two close friends who were like daughters, Jacqueline (David) Morton and Dilynn (Gary) Middleton; as well as many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Ada; a son, Ronald; and a son-in-law, Greg Aller.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Tomah. Pastor David Dahl will officiate. Burial with full military honors by Tomah VFW Post #1382 will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Tomah. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Tomah Hospice Touch or Gloria Dei Lutheran Church."
