Obituary Notes: "Darlene May Quist, age 67, of the Township of Clifton, Monroe County, WI, passed away on Monday, Aug. 21, at her home with her family by her side. She was born on May 9, 1939, to Carl and Genevieve (Berends) Muehlenkamp. She was a 1957 graduate of Tomah High School. Following graduation, she worked at the Sparta hospital and then moved to Milwaukee to work for a short time before moving back to the Clifton area. Darlene was united in marriage to Korwin Quist on May 26, 1961, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Kirby. They farmed side by side until 1996. Their nieces and nephews would spend summers at the farm and will always treasure the many memories. Darlene was a devoted member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Clifton. She enjoyed playing euchre, deer hunting, fishing and collecting birdhouses. After retiring from farm work, she went to work at Sunset Ridge and Close to Home assisted living facilities. Darlene’s dedication to hard work followed her wherever she went. Her patience, compassion and genuine love of people could be felt by everyone around her. She will be deeply missed by her family and many friends. She is survived by her husband, Korwin of Clifton; a daughter, Kimberly (Glenn) Pampuch of Tomah; a son, Randy (Amanda) Quist of Clifton; grandchildren, Valerie and MacKensie Pampuch and Cody Quist; her mother, Genevieve Muehlenkamp of Warrens; sisters and brothers, Charlotte Muha of Milwaukee, David (Betty) Muehlenkamp of Oakdale, Linda (Ron) Schultz of La Habra, CA, William “Bill” (Maria) Muehlenkamp of Fairbanks, AK, Eunice Daily of Hartford, John (Jean) Muehlenkamp of Camp Douglas, and Charles (Sue) Muehlenkamp of Puyallup, WA; many nieces, nephews, other relative and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Carl, and a brother, Paul Muehlenkamp. Funeral services were held today (Thursday), Aug. 24, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Clifton. Pastor Paul Heiderich officiated. Burial followed in the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Town of Clifton. Visitation was on Wednesday, Aug. 23, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. Family and friends were also invited for visitation on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. The Torkelson Funeral Home of Tomah assisted the family with arrangements." He died on 3 December 2008 at the age of 74 in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI. Obituary Notes: "Korwin G. Quist, age 74, of Clifton, WI, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, at the Morrow Memorial Home in Sparta. He was born on April 19, 1934, to Arthur and Lucile (Stoiber) Quist. He was a 1952 graduate of Tomah High School. Following high school, he served in the United States Army in Korea. He was united in marriage to Darlene Muehlenkamp on May 26, 1961, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Kirby. Korwin worked for over 35 years with his wife Darlene on the family farm in Clifton. He also worked seasonally in his younger years as a crane operator for Cox Construction. He was proud to have placed the steeple on St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Following retirement, he worked at CCX and then as a forklift operator for Wal-Mart Distribution Center, retiring in June of 2008. Korwin was a dedicated member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Clifton. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre, deer hunting and was an avid Packer fan. He is survived by a daughter, Kimberly (Glenn) Pampuch of Tomah; a son, Randy (Amanda) Quist of Clifton; grandchildren, Valerie and MacKensie Pampuch, Cody Quist and Brandon and Wyatt Davis; brothers, Sheldon (Marjorie) Quist and Norel (Marlene) Quist; sisters, Audrey (Richard) Abbs, Maxine Franz and Donna Mae Kreger; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Darlene; and a brother, Franklin Quist. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Clifton. Pastor Paul Heiderich will officiate. Burial will follow in the Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery, Town of Clifton. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Friday, Dec. 5, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah.
