Obituary Notes: "Norbert F. “Nubs” Berendes, 89, of Tomah and formerly of Wilton, died Monday, July 12, 2010, at Tomah Memorial Hospital. He was born on February 9, 1921, to Fred and Margaret (Ebert) Berendes in Norwalk. He moved with his parents in 1926 to a farm in the township of Wilton. He farmed with his brother Bernard “Pat” until selling the farm in 1999 and moving to Tomah. He proudly carried the flag on his palomino horse “Sailor” and led the parade on Memorial Day for many years. Norbert was a kind, hardworking uncle, friend and neighbor. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Irvin, Ralph and Bernard (Pat); and three sisters, Leona McCann, Marie Houle, and Clara Smith. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2010, 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 504 Enderby Street, Wilton. Reverend Richard C. Dickman will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral, 801 E. Monowau Street, Tomah on Friday from 4 until 8 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service." |
