1. August Johann "John" BORCHARDT was born in July 1833 in Pommern (Pomerania) Province, Preussen (Prussia).1,2,3 He was listed as "August" in the 1870 and 1880 Census records, but as "John" in 1900. He emigrated in 1863 from Pommern (Pomerania) Province, Preussen (Prussia).1,4 (The 1900 Census record indicates that he emigrated in 1863, but the 1920 record for his son Fred indicates that he emigrated in 1864.) He appeared in the census in 1870 in Milwaukee Township, Milwaukee County, WI.2 His household consisted of "August," his wife, "Hannah," and their children, Frederick (13), Bertha (12), Albert (4), and Pauline (8/12). His occupation was "Laborer." John appeared in the census in 1880 in Milwaukee Township, Milwaukee County, WI.3 His household consisted of "August," his wife "Hannah," and their children, Bertha (22), Albert (15), and Ernst (6). His occupation was "Farmer." (He is listed in the Ancestry.com index as "August Borchert.") He appeared in the census in 1900 in Milwaukee Township, Milwaukee County, WI.1 His household was next to that of his sons Fred and Albert, and consisted of "John" and another son, Ernst. Also living with him was a granddaughter, Pauline Henning, born December 1884 in Wisconsin. John's occupation was "Farmer." His wife was not listed in the household. He died before 1910 at the age of 77.5 (He cannot be located in the June 1910 Census, so it is believed that he died before then.)

August Johann "John" BORCHARDT and Johanna "Hannah" AHREND were married about 1855 in Pommern (Pomerania) Province, Preussen (Prussia).5 (According to the 1910 Census, they had 8 children, of whom 3 were living at the time.) Johanna "Hannah" AHREND was born about 1834 in Pommern (Pomerania) Province, Preussen (Prussia).2,5 (She was listed as age 35 in the 1870 Census, and as 77 in 1910.) She emigrated in 1863 from Pommern (Pomerania) Province, Preussen (Prussia).4 (The 1920 Census record for her son Fred indicates that he emigrated in 1864.) She appeared in the census in 1870 in Milwaukee Township, Milwaukee County, WI.2 Hannah appeared in the census in 1880 in Milwaukee Township, Milwaukee County, WI.3 Her occupation was "Keeps House." She appeared in the census in 1910 in Milwaukee Township, Milwaukee County, WI.5 She was living with her son Ernst. She died before 1920 at the age of 86.1,5,6 (Her husband was listed as a Widower in the June 1900 Census, but that was not correct because she was listed in the 1910 Census. However, she cannot be located in the 1920 Census, and it is believed that she died before then.)

Ernst appeared in the census in 1910 in Milwaukee Township, Milwaukee County, WI.5 His household was on Section Line Road, West of Port Washington Road, near that of his brother Albert. His mother was living with him, as well as an uncle, William Arndt, age 73, born in Germany, and Divorced. Ernst's occupation was "Farmer, General Farm."
