Released on a $2,000 signature bond was Margaret M. Meiser, 48, also known as Margaret Borchardt. She was arrested after the October 20 altercation at a home on Aspen Avenue in the town of Lincoln. Authorities arrived at the house about 7:30 p.m. to discover Meiser's father sitting on a floor with his face covered with blood. They learned the elderly man was attacked because he locked up a bottle of vodka his daughter had hidden, according to court records. Meiser, who later blew a .18 on a breathalizer administered by police, hit her father in the mouth, pushed him onto the floor, and repeatedly kicked him. A cut above his left eye was also visible. In addition to signing the signature bond, pending disposition of the case, Meiser won't be allowed contact with her grandaughter unless it is convenient for social services. The time limit for a preliminary hearing on the substantial battery charge, which is a felony, was waived. If the charge isn't ammended to a less serious one, a conviction can mean as much as three and one-half years in prison."
