As a boy he moved to Montgomery Co Missouri with his family. He married Martha Boswell about 1846.He was a member of the Confederate force in the Civil War battle at Mt Zion which occurred in the vicinity of Mt Zion Church, Boone Co Missouri on December 28, 1861. The battle began early and was over by 11 AM. Union Gen. Prentiss in his official report of the battle listed the Rebel wounded left at Mt. Zion Church after the battle. Abram Bramberger of Callaway County was listed with a wound to the left breast. He died and is buried with six unidentified rebel soldiers in a common grave in the Mt. Zion Church Cemetery. Their records state 'there was identification for only one. It was somehow known, perhaps because he lived long enough to tell them, that one was named Brandenburg.'" He was buried in Hallsville, Boone County, MO.3 in the Mount Zion Church Methodist South Cemetery. |
