53. Jonathan "Jon" BRANDENBURG (+)4 was born on 2 June 1791 in Heidelberg, Lee County, KY.3,9 He died on 1 December 1844 at the age of 53 in Montgomery County, MO.3,16 He was buried in Montgomery, Montgomery County, MO.4 in the New Providence Cemetery.

Jonathan "Jon" BRANDENBURG (+) and Mary L. "Polly" SMITH (+) were married on 12 February 1821 in Estill County, KY.4,16 Mary L. "Polly" SMITH (+), daughter of John William SMITH and Rebecca JEFFERS, was born on 25 May 1799 in South Carolina.16 She died on 24 February 1867 at the age of 67 in Shamrock, Callaway County, MO.3,16 She was buried in Callaway County, MO.3 in the Chapman Cemetery.

Abraham BRANDENBURG was born on 23 September 1825 in Estill County, KY.3,16 He died on 28 December 1861 at the age of 36 in Hallsville, Boone County, MO.3,16 Life Sketch: "Abraham Brandenburg was born in Kentucky in 1825 to Jonathan Brandenburg and Mary Smith Brandenburg. As a boy he moved to Montgomery Co Missouri with his family. He married Martha Boswell about 1846.

He was a member of the Confederate force in the Civil War battle at Mt Zion which occurred in the vicinity of Mt Zion Church, Boone Co Missouri on December 28, 1861. The battle began early and was over by 11 AM.

Union Gen. Prentiss in his official report of the battle listed the Rebel wounded left at Mt. Zion Church after the battle. Abram Bramberger of Callaway County was listed with a wound to the left breast.

He died and is buried with six unidentified rebel soldiers in a common grave in the Mt. Zion Church Cemetery. Their records state 'there was identification for only one. It was somehow known, perhaps because he lived long enough to tell them, that one was named Brandenburg.'" He was buried in Hallsville, Boone County, MO.3 in the Mount Zion Church Methodist South Cemetery.
