1. August BUCHHOLZ Sr. was born in July 1832 in Preussen (Prussia).^1,2 (His surname was spelled "Buchholz" in the 1880 Census, but as "Bucholz" in 1900.) He emigrated in 1855 from Preussen (Prussia).¹ He appeared in the census in 1860 in Crystal Lake Township, Marquette County, WI.³ His occupation was "Farm Laborer." August appeared in the census in 1870 in Crystal Lake Township, Marquette County, WI.⁴ His surname was spelled "Bucholtz" and his occupation was "Farmer." Also living in his household was Julius Buchholz, age 19, occupation "Farm Laborer;" he may have been a brother. He appeared in the census in 1880 in Crystal Lake Township, Marquette County, WI.² His occupation was "Farmer." He appeared in the census in 1900 in Crystal Lake Township, Marquette County, WI.¹ He and his wife were living with their daughter Ida and her family. August died before May 1910 at the age of 77. (His wife was a widow in the 1910 Census.)

August BUCHHOLZ Sr. and Ernestine ZELLMER were married about 1859.^1,5,6,7 According to the 1900 Census, they had 12 children, of whom 9 were living at the time; at the time of the 1910 Census, 8 of them were living. Ernestine ZELLMER, daughter of Simeon ZELLMER and Anna Christina UNKNOWN (ZELLMER), was born in April 1843 in Preussen (Prussia).¹ She emigrated in 1858 from Preussen (Prussia).¹ She appeared in the census in 1860 in Crystal Lake Township, Marquette County, WI.³ Ernestine appeared in the census in 1870 in Crystal Lake Township, Marquette County, WI.⁴ She appeared in the census in 1880 in Crystal Lake Township, Marquette County, WI.² She and her husband and family were living with her parents. She appeared in the census in 1900 in Crystal Lake Township, Marquette County, WI.¹ Ernestine appeared in the census in 1910 in Crystal Lake Township, Marquette County, WI.⁷ She was a widow and was living with her son William and his family.
