A message from the wife of Jared Baker, the son of Gregory Baker and a grandson of Lois Root, on 11/7/2021:

"Good evening, Gary. I have begun researching our family line and you are testing as related to both me and my husband, Jared. I'm most interested in how you may be related to my husband and to see if you have any information about his family.

His father, Gregory Morrison Baker, was adopted and we don't know much of anything about his family. He believes his mother's name was Lois Root, due to some research he conducted before he passed away last year. If that bears out to be true, it appears you would be 2nd cousins 1x removed from my husband Gregory's only child, Jared Baker.

I know adoption can sometimes be a very emotional subject but I am hoping your relation is far enough away that it won't cause any family issues by reaching out. Gregory was born in 1954 (7 months before she married Gordon Ness). I would be grateful for any information you might have.

Thank you! Tiffany Baker"

Gary Griggs' response to Tiffany, 11/9/2021:

"In June 2017, Lois' youngest son Tim sent a message to the Root cousins:

'Our cousin in Nevada, Greg Baker. Hello to my relatives on facebook. I want to introduce you to Greg Baker. He is my biological brother, our newest family member. In 1954, Lois Root gave up a baby for adoption, and after many years of adoption searching (that Mom and I worked on together before she passed away), we have connected. He is an engineer in Nevada. If you would like to say hello, he has an email address: gb4chg@gmail.com. I have spoken with him just this weekend for the first time. He is very polite and has had a happy and full life, and would like to learn more about his heritage. He would like a short hello if you are so inclined. Thanks everyone!'"

A message from Don Root, a nephew of Lois', who Gary contacted about his message from Tiffany: "This came as a shock to the family but several of the cousins reached out to Greg to welcome him.  Apparently Greg was born while Lois lived in Minnesota and went some time without face to face contact with her mother and siblings.  Obviously, in those days there would have been a lot of shame associated with the situation.  At this point the family has been made aware, and are also aware that Greg has passed away.  Feel free to communicate fully with his family. You may wish to reach out to Tim.  He may have some helpful information."

Gary forwarded the above messages to Tiffany and Jared on 11/9/2021.
