His unit served in Puerto Rico, leaving on April 28th, 1898 and returning home on September 18th, 1898. The unit was based in the Winnebago County area of Wisconsin.

He was listed in the original muster out rolls for Company K, after serving in the Spanish-American War.

He was a charter member of the United Spanish American War Veterans, Oscar Zimmerman Camp #20, Tomah, when it was formed 4 February 1906. He appeared in the census in 1900 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.⁷¹ He and his wife, Marcia, lived at 1211 McLean Avenue. His father, mother, and sister Hattie lived next door.
