20. Johannes M. "John" FROHMADER was born on 12 September 1835 in Bayern (Bavaria) Province, German Confederation.^5,10,22 He emigrated in 1844 from Germany.^22,46

The 1900 Census indicates that he had emigrated in 1844 and had been in the U.S. for 56 years. He lived in Pennsylvania until 1848, when he settled in Jefferson County, WI. In 1876, after he married, the family moved to Monroe County, locating in Clifton Township. He appeared in the census in 1850 in Sullivan Township, Jefferson County, WI.¹² He was a "Laborer" on the farm of Neyson (?) and Sarah Smith. (His surname is listed in the Ancestry,com Census Record Index as "Fromada," and it was spelled "Fromader" on the Census record.) John appeared in the census in 1860 in Sullivan Township, Jefferson County, WI.¹⁵ His household was next door to Michael Frohmader, age 22, his wife Catherine, age 22, and their daughter, Melinda, age 1. The next household contained the family of his parents: George Frohmader, age 44, his wife Catherine, age 45, and their son, Henry, age 11. Michael was his brother. He appeared in the census in 1880 in Clifton Township, Monroe County, WI.¹⁰ His household consisted of "John," age 44, farmer, born in Bavaria; his wife, "Mary Agnes," age 44, "keeping house," born in Hesse-Darmstadt; Anna, age 22, "keeping school;" Amelia, age 20, "keeping school;" George, age 18, "teaches;" John L., age 15, "works at home;" Rosa, age 11, "at school;" Elmer, age 9, "at school;" and "not named," age 9/12. The children's birth places were listed as Wisconsin. He appeared in the census in 1900 in Clifton Township, Monroe County, WI.²² His household consisted of John, age 69, "farmer;" his wife, Mary, age 64; Charley, age 20, "farmer;" and Lillie S., age 18. John died on 29 October 1905 at the age of 70 in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.^5,47 He died of cancer of the liver. He was buried on 30 October 1905 in Camp Douglas, Cutler Township, Juneau County, WI.⁵

Johannes M. "John" FROHMADER and Mary Agnes "Maria" BORNHEIMER were married on 20 February 1857.^{5,22,46,48,49,50}

(The 1900 Census indicates that they had 10 children, of whom 9 were still living.) Mary Agnes "Maria" BORNHEIMER, daughter of Matthias BORNHEIMER and Agnes HAMER, was born on 19 December 1835 in Darmstadt Regierungsbezirke (District), Hessen (Hesse) Province, Germany.^5,10,22,50 (Her name is listed as "Mary Agnes" in the 1880 Census.) She emigrated in 1841 from Germany.²² The 1900 Census indicated that she had emigrated to the U.S. in 1841 and had been in the U.S. for 59 years. She appeared in the census in 1860 in Sullivan Township, Jefferson County, WI.¹⁵ Maria appeared in the census in 1880 in Clifton Township, Monroe County, WI.¹⁰ Her parents' birth places were listed as Hesse-Darmstadt, Germany. She appeared in the census in 1900 in Clifton Township, Monroe County, WI.²²

. She appeared in the census in 1910 in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.²³ She and her children Anna and Albert must have moved to Sparta after her husband died in 1905. Maria died on 26 May 1914 at the age of 78 in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.^5,21 She was buried in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.⁵
