"Henry" GERKE Sr. was born on 16 February 1811 in Dransfeld, nach Gottingen, Hanover, Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony) Province, Preussen (Prussia).2,4,5,6 He emigrated on 26 May 1869 from Dransfeld, nach Gottingen, Hanover, Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony) Province, Preussen (Prussia).4,5 on the ship Bark Everhard Delius, which sailed from Bremen to New York.

Dransfeld was located in the former Prussian Province of Hanover. He appeared in the census in 1870 in Menomonee Falls, Waukesha County, WI.5,7 He was living with his brother-in-law, Justus Klinger, and was listed as a "Farm Laborer." Henry died in 1873 at the age of 62 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.4,5 Monroe County Historical Society Article: Heinrich Gerke, Sr. "died in 1873." He was buried in 1873 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.4 He is "buried in an old, run down cemetery in Ridgeville" (Monroe County Heritage Book, article 1238).
