71. Edna May ALLEN was born on 14 August 1913 in Warrens, Lincoln Township, Monroe County, WI.^49,51,72 She appeared in the census in 1930 in Lincoln Township, Monroe County, WI.¹⁸ She died on 19 November 2013 at the age of 100 in Barrington, Cook County, IL.⁷²

Obituary Notes: "Edna M. Walters, 100, of Antioch, Ill., passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, at Journey Care Hospice Center, Barrington, Ill. She was born Aug. 15, 1913, in Warrens the daughter of the late Jasper and Lucrecia (Smith) Allen.

She and her beloved husband Dewel were married on Oct. 24, 1934, in Kirby, Wis. She worked for Federal Civil Service at Fort Sheridan, Ill. until she retired in 1975. She was a member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church of Antioch.

Edna is survived by two daughters, Sharon Pearson of Sun City, Ariz., and Paula (Frank) Merlo of Spring Grove Ill.; four grandchildren, Deborah (Rich) Pearson of Peoria, Ariz., Sally (Doug) Pearson of Phoenix, Ariz., Julie (Mike) Walker of Romeoville, Ill., and Frank (Tammy) Merlo of McHenry, Ill.; two greatgrandchildren, Christian Normandy and Christina (James) Allbright; two great-great-grandchildren, Mikaela and Christopher Giroux; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Nick and Katie Wenzara; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Dewel; three brothers, Clyde (Helma) Allen, Leo (Blanche) Allen, Ed (Geniveve) Allen; two sisters, Gladys (James) Rich and Eleanor (Kenneth) Vandervort; and son-in-law, Robert Pearson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 24300 W. Grass Lake Rd., Antioch, with Pastor Gregory Hermanson officiating."

Edna May ALLEN and Dewel Paul WALTERS were married on 24 October 1934 in Kirby, Lincoln Township, Monroe County, WI.^7,38,49,73 Dewel Paul WALTERS, son of Paul Amel WALTERS and Luella Erabella Hedwig BERNHARDT, was born on 21 July 1915 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.^51,74 He appeared in the census in 1920 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.⁶⁵ He died on 29 November 2005 at the age of 90 in Evanston, Cook County, IL.^47,75

Obituary Notes: "Dewel P. Walters, age 90, of Antioch, IL, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005, at Evanston Hospital, Evanston, IL. He was born July 21, 1915, in Tomah, WI, the son of the late Paul and Luella (Bernhardt) Walters. He and his beloved wife of 71 years were married on Oct. 24, 1934, in Kirby, WI.

As a young man, he worked with his father at Walters and Son Meat Market in Tomah and in 1946 he became a fireman at Camp McCoy. He was the Fire Chief at Fort Sheridan, IL, from 1954 until he retired in 1976. Dewel served in the Wisconsin National Guard 32nd Division and was an avid sportsman who loved to hunt, fish and tell family stories. He was a member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church of Antioch.

Dewel is survived by his wife, Edna; two daughters, Sharon ( Robert) Pearson of Peoria, AZ, and Paula (Frank) Merlo of Antioch; four grandchildren, Deborah (Rich) Pearson of Peoria, AZ, Sally Pearson of Phoenix, AZ, Julie Merlo of Bolingbrook, IL, and Frank (Tammy) Merlo of McHenry, IL;, two great- grandchildren, Army Staff Sgt. Christian Normandy in Virginia and Christina (Christopher) Giroux in North Carolina; two great-great-grandchildren, Mikaela and Christopher Giroux, and two step great-great-grandchilden, Nick and Katie Wenzara; his sister, Marcella Buchholz of Tomah, WI, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Conrad, and one sister, Evelyn (Donald) Emmons.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005, at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 24300 W. Grass Lake Road, Antioch, IL, with Pastor Gregory Hermanson officiating. Interment was in Highland Memorial Park, Libertyville, IL. Visitation was at the church from 11 a.m. Saturday until time of services. Those desiring may make donations to the church building fund in his memory. Arrangements were entrusted to the Strang Funeral Home of Antioch, IL."
