She worked for Federal Civil Service at Fort Sheridan, Ill. until she retired in 1975. She was a member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church of Antioch. Edna is survived by two daughters, Sharon Pearson of Sun City, Ariz., and Paula (Frank) Merlo of Spring Grove Ill.; four grandchildren, Deborah (Rich) Pearson of Peoria, Ariz., Sally (Doug) Pearson of Phoenix, Ariz., Julie (Mike) Walker of Romeoville, Ill., and Frank (Tammy) Merlo of McHenry, Ill.; two greatgrandchildren, Christian Normandy and Christina (James) Allbright; two great-great-grandchildren, Mikaela and Christopher Giroux; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Nick and Katie Wenzara; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Dewel; three brothers, Clyde (Helma) Allen, Leo (Blanche) Allen, Ed (Geniveve) Allen; two sisters, Gladys (James) Rich and Eleanor (Kenneth) Vandervort; and son-in-law, Robert Pearson. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 24300 W. Grass Lake Rd., Antioch, with Pastor Gregory Hermanson officiating." . Walters, age 90, of Antioch, IL, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005, at Evanston Hospital, Evanston, IL. He was born July 21, 1915, in Tomah, WI, the son of the late Paul and Luella (Bernhardt) Walters. He and his beloved wife of 71 years were married on Oct. 24, 1934, in Kirby, WI. As a young man, he worked with his father at Walters and Son Meat Market in Tomah and in 1946 he became a fireman at Camp McCoy. He was the Fire Chief at Fort Sheridan, IL, from 1954 until he retired in 1976. Dewel served in the Wisconsin National Guard 32nd Division and was an avid sportsman who loved to hunt, fish and tell family stories. He was a member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church of Antioch.
