He was born January 13, 1896 to Frederick and Emma (Purdy) Heser on the family farm in the town of Greenfield, Monroe County. Vern was united in marriage to Ruth M. Hoag July 9, 1924. Ruth passed away April 18, 1946. He was a farmer and worked at Fort McCoy. In 1947 he was united in marriage to Della Hienaman and moved to California. They were divorced in 1952 and he moved back to Tomah. He moved to Janesville in 1959. He was united in marriage to Susan Ashton in November 1970. He moved to Tomah Care Center in 1986. Susan passed away May 28, 1989. Vern was a veteran of World War I and served with Army QM Corp in France. he was a lifelong member of VFW Post 1382 of Tomah. He is survived by two sons, Harry (Gloria) Heser of Tomah and Robert (Eleanor) Heser of Torrence, California, a daughter, Verneta (Clifford) Anderson of Janesville, 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; four step great great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wives; three brothers, Earl, Frederick II and Robert, four sisters, Celia, Susan, Edna and Myrtle; and two great grandsons, Robert Heser and Travis Warnlof. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, 1994 in First Congregational Church, Tomah, Rev. Wesley Schirmer will officiate and burial will be in Oak Grave Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the White Funeral Home, Tomah; and from 10 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at the church."
