He was the son of Thomas and Jane Kidd and the older brother to Elizabeth (born 1 September 1672), William (born 22 Mar 1675), Jane (born 12 January 1677 and Mary (born August 1679). Source: Virginia Births & Christenings 1584-1852 and 1853-1917.

He married Alice Trigg on September 18, 1690 in Christ Church Episcopal Church, Christ Church Parish, Middlesex County, Virginia. He was buried May 13, 1727.

His children with Alice are listed in the source: Virginia Births and Christenings 1584-1852 and 1853-1917 and include: Winifred (christened 1702), Frances (christened 1705), Henry (christened 1707), William (born 22 April 1716), and twins, Anne & Jane (born 14 June 1719).
