12. Johannes Heinrich "Henry" KLINGE was born on 10 September 1817 in Beckendorf, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Province, Preussen (Prussia).1,3,4,5 (His given name may have been "Johannes." He was listed as "John" in the 1870 Census.) (There are two cities named Beckendorf in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It is not known if he was born in Ludwigslust or Parchim county.) He emigrated on 21 April 1859 from Preussen (Prussia).1,2,3 Monroe County Heritage Book Article #27: "He immigrated to America, landing in New York on April 21, 1859 on the steamship 'Saxonia'. Two of his brothers, Friedrich and Christian Klinge, immigrated to America a few years earlier. Heinrich came directly to Wisconsin and built his log cabin among the other early settlers."

Article #33: "He brought with him three old books from Mecklenburg, a collection of sermons, a catechism about the Lutheran religion and a school book. The books were printed around 1776. They are now a family keepsake." He appeared in the census in 1860 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.6 His household consisted of "Henry" and his wife "Sophia," both born in "Mecklenburg," and Lena Holmes, age 36, born in Mecklenburg; and her daughter, Bertha, age 1, born in Michigan. His occupation was listed as "Farmer." Henry appeared in the census in 1870 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.5 (His surname was spelled "Keling" and his occupation was "Farmer." Living in his household was "Henry Holmes," age 15, born in Schwerin-Mecklenburg, occupation "Farm Laborer." It is possible that he was a brother of Maria Holm.) About 1880 he was a farmer in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.4 He was Lutheran in 1889 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.7 He and his wife are listed in the Communion Register of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Henry died on 19 April 1899 at the age of 81 in Monroe County, WI.2,3 Monroe County Heritage Book Article #27: "A wreath of red roses was placed on his casket during his funeral at the Pingel School House." He was buried in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.8 in the Mount Vernon Cemetery.

Johannes Heinrich "Henry" KLINGE and Maria "Mary" HOLM were married on 22 June 1866 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.3,9,10 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Maria "Mary" HOLM was born on 27 October 1847.3,8,9 She appeared in the census in 1870 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.5 She died on 7 November 1874 at the age of 27 in Monroe County, WI.2,9 Mary was buried on 9 November 1874 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.8,9 in the Mount Vernon Cemetery.

She was baptized on 13 December 1870 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.9 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Maria Dorothea "Mary" KLINGE.

Johannes Heinrich "Henry" KLINGE and Louise "Sophia" KRUSE were married on 10 May 1849 in Preussen (Prussia).2,3,11,12 Louise "Sophia" KRUSE was born in 1804 in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Province, Preussen (Prussia).6,8 (She was listed as "Sophia" in the 1860 Census.) She appeared in the census in 1860 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.6 She died in 1865 at the age of 61.3,8 Sophia was buried in 1865 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.8 in the Mount Vernon Cemetery.

Johannes Heinrich "Henry" KLINGE and Dorothea Sophia Wilhelmine "Dora" MEYER were married about 1879 in Monroe County, WI.2,3,4,13,14 (According to the 1900 Census, she had three children, of whom two were living at the time.) Dorothea Sophia Wilhelmine "Dora" MEYER, daughter of Ludwig MEYER and Wilhelmine DREYER, was born on 19 December 1843 in Hemeringen, Hamelin, Hannover, Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony) Province, Preussen (Prussia).4,13 She was confirmed on 28 May 1858 in Hemeringen, Hamelin, Hannover, Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony) Province, Preussen (Prussia).13 She emigrated in 1871 from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Province, Preussen (Prussia).13,14 Dora appeared in the census in 1880 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.2 She appeared in the census in 1900 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.14 She was a widow, and her son John lived with her. She appeared in the census in 1910 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.15 Her household was in the 3rd Ward and she was a widow. Living with her was the family of Roswell and Friederike Burdick and their two daughters; their relationship to Dora is not known. Dora died on 22 July 1916 at the age of 72 in La Crosse, La Crosse County, WI.13 She was buried in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.3,8 in the Mount Vernon Cemetery.

Christian Arnold KLINGE was born on 7 May 1880 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.9,16 He was baptized on 25 December 1883 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.9 at the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. He died on 11 May 1884 at the age of 4 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.9 He died of diphtheria. Christian was buried on 13 May 1884 in Jacksonville, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.9 in the Mount Vernon Cemetery.
