Second Generation

2. Heinrich Friedrich Ludwig "Fred" KUCKUCK was born on 16 February 1812 in Hanover, Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony) Province, Preussen (Prussia).2,3,4,5 (The 1860 and 1870 Census' listed his birth place as Hanover; in 1880 it was listed as Prussia.) He emigrated about 1857 from Preussen (Prussia).3

. He appeared in the census in 1860 in Germantown Township, Juneau County, WI.3 His household consisted of Fred, age 48, occupation "farmer," born in Hanover; his wife Wilhelmina, age 35, born in Hanover; their children Augustus, age 12; Henry, age 8; and Wilhelmina, age 5, all born in Hanover; and Caroline, age 2,and Dora, age 1, born in Wisconsin.

There were also two other people: Fred, "Laborer," age 24; and Hannah, age 16, both born in Hanover. Neither appears with the family in later Census records. The younger Fred would have been too old to be a son of Wilhelmina, so it is possible that he may have been a son from a previous marriage of Fred, Sr, who married Wilhelmina when he was 35. Hannah may have been the wife of Fred, Jr. or another daughter of Fred, Sr. from a first marriage.

. Fred appeared in the census in 1870 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.4 His household consisted of Fred and Wilhelmina, and their children Henry, age 18; Wilhelmina, age 16; Elizabeth, age 9; "Emily," age 7; Louis, age 2; and Frank, age 1. Fred's occupation was listed as "farmer."
