Her short journey was marked by her incredible independence and resilience. She continuously refused to allow challenges to become barriers. "The chair did not define her" was a mantra that embodied her approach to life. She set a precedent for what it meant to be a good woman. Her home, where she lived for thirty-five years, was a place of peace and joy. With her front porch serving as a sanctuary of serenity, Sheila could be found enjoying a good book with a cup of coffee on most days. She and Mike were able to build a second home in Arizona, where she was able to extend her beloved porch time year-round. Sheila had a passion for traveling and camping with her close family and friends. Everyone enjoyed her campfire stories along with her whole-hearted laugh that could light up the room. Watching rodeos, quilting, crafting, and baking were among her favorite activities. While still walking, she also enjoyed hunting, boating, and horseback riding. She created a world of adventure, not just for herself, but for all who were lucky enough to join her. Sheila's determined nature caused her to work hard to build the life that she was so proud of and she never hesitated to step up and face a challenge head-on. She enjoyed working for the Soldiers at Fort McCoy, as a Reserve Pay Analyst, where she retired after thirty-four years of service in 2019. For many years, she also drew up house plans and helped build houses with the family business of Niebuhr Construction. Sheila was determined to be a first-generation college graduate and obtained her bachelor's degree at forty-two years old from Viterbo University, having maintained Dean's List achievement throughout the many, many hours spent studying. Her kind heart and supportive nature made her a cherished friend, a loving family member, and an inspiration to all. Sheila's love for her family was unlike any other. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life; she always encouraged them to pursue their passions and was always the first phone call or hug that they wanted if things fell apart. Her grandchildren cherished every moment with their Grandma Sheila and enjoyed every "ride" they could take with her. She was the favorite Grandma that would play with them, color, build, and create crafts. She is survived by her devoted husband of twenty-three years, Michael; her children Heather (Eric) Daly, Cory (Natasha) Guenther, Jessica (Garett) Witt, and Kelsey (Kevin) Baertsch; her grandchildren Kohltynn, Zaine, Kanyon, Lauren, Adalyn, Lane, Oaklen, Spring, and Finn; her mother Bonnie Bussert; and her sister Susan Bussert.
