Julius Johann MITTELSTAEDT was born on 3 March 1854 in Kreis Obornik, Posen Province, Preussen (Prussia).^1,2,3,4 Kreis Obornik (Polish: Powiat obornicki) was a district in Regierungsbezirk Posen in the Prussian province of Posen until 1919. Its territory presently lies in the northwestern part of Polish region of Greater Poland Voivodeship. He emigrated in 1878 from Posen Province, Preussen (Prussia).³ He appeared in the census in 1880 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.⁶ Julius died on 20 September 1945 at the age of 91 in Monroe County, WI.^1,2,4 He was buried in 1945 in Norwalk, Monroe County, WI.^3,4 in the St. Jacob's Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Julius Johann MITTELSTAEDT and Ottelia Mathilde "Ottilie" KIETZMANN were married on 12 February 1878 in Preussen (Prussia).^1,2,13 Ottelia Mathilde "Ottilie" KIETZMANN was born on 12 March 1858 in Preussen (Prussia).^1,4,18,19 (At the time of her death, she was 43 years, 22 days old.) (Her surname is sometimes spelled "Kietzmann," but in the church record of her death it was spelled "Kiesmann." In the baptism record of her son Adolph, it was spelled "Kitzmann.") She appeared in the census in 1880 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.⁶ She died on 3 April 1901 at the age of 43 in Monroe County, WI.^1,4,18,20 (The cemetery records list her death year as 1901.) Ottelia was buried on 6 April 1901 in Norwalk, Monroe County, WI.^3,4,18 in the St. Jacob's Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery.
