Leopold "Leo" VIETH was born on 1 April 1865 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.^2,6,8,15 He appeared in the census in 1870 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.⁹ (He was listed as "Louis.") He appeared in the census in 1880 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.⁶ Leo appeared in the census in 1900 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.^15,46 He was the enumerator for the 1900 Census in Ridgeville Township. He later became the Sheriff of Monroe County in the early-1900's. He died in 1916 at the age of 51.⁸ He was buried in 1916 in Sheldon Township, Monroe County, WI.⁸ in the Wanderer's Rest Cemetery.

Leopold "Leo" VIETH and Elizabeth Alwine Pauline "Lizzie" SCHEER were married on 31 January 1884.^8,46 Elizabeth Alwine Pauline "Lizzie" SCHEER, daughter of Carl August SCHEER and Anna ZELLMER, was born on 26 December 1863 in Old Lebanon, Lebanon Township, Dodge County, WI.^8,47 She appeared in the census in 1870 in Lebanon Township, Dodge County, WI.⁴⁸ She was listed as "Louise." She died on 12 December 1891 at the age of 27 in Monroe County, WI.⁸ She died in childbirth. Lizzie was buried in Sheldon Township, Monroe County, WI.^13,49 in the Wanderer's Rest Cemetery.

Leopold "Leo" VIETH and Minnie MORITZ were married on 2 July 1893.⁸ Minnie MORITZ was born on 24 March 1866.⁸ She died on 30 December 1925 at the age of 59.⁸
