In 1907 she was united in marriage with Paul Kewit in Ridgeville and has since resided in that community. Twelve children were born to this union. After a lingering illness (asthma), Mrs. Kewit passed away at her home on last Sunday morning, March 9, at the age of 49 years, five months and 13 days. One daughter, Ruth Ada, her mother, Mrs. Augusta Marquardt, and two sisters, Mrs. John Dittman and Tressa Marquardt, preceded her in death. Deceased is survived by her husband, Paul Kewit, eight daughters, Mrs. Harry Westphal, Mrs. Carl Miller, Mrs. Robert Giraud, Mrs. Curtis Farmer, Beatrice, Margaret, Jeanette and Ardella Kewit; three sons, Harold, Kenneth and Marion Kewit; her father, Albert Marquardt; four sisters, Mrs. Fred Albrecht, Mrs. George Libke, Mrs. Henry Gnewikow, all of Sparta, and Mrs. Ed Rice of Waukegan, Ill.; one brother, August Marquardt, Sparta; her mother-in-law, Mrs. Ernestine Kewit; two grandchildren, Duane Giraud and Beverly Ann Farmer, besides many other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at the home in Ridgeville on Tuesday afternoon, Rev. C. E. Berg officiating. Interment was in the Oak Grove Cemetery." He passed away at his home in Sparta on August 4, 1949. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Ridgeville. In 1906 he was united in marriage with Anna Marquardt and settled on his parents' farm in the town of Ridgeville. In 1922 he moved to Clifton with his family, where he operated a department store for one year. He then moved back to the farm at Ridgeville. His wife preceded him in death March 8, 1936. Twelve children were born to this union, one of whom preceded him in death in infancy. In 1938 he bought a farm in the town of Little Falls, which he operated for five years. On Dec. 30, 1939, he was united in marriage with Susan Schulz, the former Susan Meyer. In 1942 they moved to Sparta and he spent the remainder of his life in that city. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Susan Kewit; eight daughters and three sons, Mrs. Harry (Helen) Westpfahl, Mrs. Carl (Ada) Miller, Mrs. Robert (Gertrude) Giraud, Mrs. Curtis (Violet) Farmer, Mrs. Roland (Beatrice) Wakefield, Mrs. Carl (Margaret) Drew, Mrs. Edward (Jeanette) Becker, Mrs. Allan (Ardella) Gerke, Harold, Kenneth, and Marvin Kewit; eight sons-in-law; 17 grandchildren, and four sisters, Mrs. Fred Noth, Mrs. Amelia Noth, Mrs. George Vincenz and Mrs. Lydia Pergande; also one step-son, Willard Schulz, and three step-daughters. Funeral services were held at the Norwegian Lutheran Church in Sparta on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 7, and interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery at Tomah."
