Wilma Grace BIGELOW and Douglas Lawrence "Doug" HURD Sr. were married on 11 December 1941.^182,362 Douglas Lawrence "Doug" HURD Sr.⁴², son of Asahel Clark HURD and Myrtle Eleanor GEMMER, was born on 31 January 1923 in Kentucky.¹⁸² He appeared in the census in 1930 in Alexandria, Campbell County, KY.³³⁴ He died on 10 March 2002 at the age of 79 in Newport, Campbell County, KY.¹⁸² Obituary Notes: "Doug Hurd, Sr., 79, of Newport, (KY), died at 1 p.m. Sunday at Baptist Convalescent Center, Newport. He was a retired chief at the Newport Pump House and a member of Christian Tabernacle Church, Newport. He was a member of the church choir and the church board.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma Bigelow Hurd; sons, Doug Hurd of Cincinnati, David Lee Hurd of Louisville and Danny Hurd of Melbourne; a brother, Charles Russell Hurd of Fort Thomas; a sister, Myrtle (Rusty) Strunk of Falmouth; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 11 A.M. Thursday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Memorials are suggested to Christian Tabernacle Church, 325 Washington Ave., Newport, KY 41071."
