Eli Ransler WHITE was born on 19 September 1817 in Roxbury Township, Delaware County, NY.^1,74,76 (His given name was listed as "Ely" in the 1850 Census, as was the given name of one of his sons.) He appeared in the census in 1850 in Scott Township, Luzerne County, PA.⁷⁶ He appeared in the census in 1860 in Scott Township, Luzerne County, PA.¹³³ Eli died on 15 March 1864 at the age of 46 in Pennsylvania.^1,29

Eli Ransler WHITE and Lydia JOHNSON were married in 1835 in Pennsylvania.¹ (According to the LDS Individual Record, they may have been married in Scott Township, Luzerne County, PA.) Lydia JOHNSON, daughter of Olney JOHNSON and Elizabeth CALVIN, was born in 1813 in Rhode Island.^1,76 She appeared in the census in 1850 in Scott Township, Luzerne County, PA.⁷⁶ She appeared in the census in 1860 in Scott Township, Luzerne County, PA.¹³³ Lydia appeared in the census in 1870 in Scott Township, Luzerne County, PA.¹³⁴ She was living with her son Renselear. She died in 1890 at the age of 77.¹
