68. Mercy DELANO (~) was born on 27 October 1686 in Falmouth, Barnstable County, Massachusetts Bay Colony, British Colonial America.30 She died about 1730 at the age of 44 in Falmouth, Barnstable County, Massachusetts Bay Colony, British Colonial America.30

Mercy DELANO (~) and Captain Joseph HATCH Sr. were married on 13 January 1713 in Falmouth, Barnstable County, Massachusetts Bay Colony, British Colonial America.25,30,31 Captain Joseph HATCH Sr., son of Jonathan HATCH and Sarah ROWLEY, was born on 3 August 1689 in Falmouth, Barnstable County, Massachusetts Bay Colony, British Colonial America.30 He was christened on 3 August 1701 in Barnstable, Barnstable County, Massachusetts Bay Colony, British Colonial America.25 In 1718 he was a tavern keeper in Tolland, Tolland County, Connecticut Colony, British Colonial America.31 He moved from Windsor, CT was one of the first two settlers of Tolland in 1713. Joseph died on 27 April 1750 at the age of 60 in Falmouth, Barnstable County, Massachusetts Bay Colony, British Colonial America.25 Life Sketch: "He was one of the first settlers at Tolland, Connecticut. Perhaps he might have been at Windsor for a short time. He was one of the Grantees in first deed in Windsor Committee. He was one of the Petitioners in Coventry, Connecticut lands in 1718. He was commissioned Lieutenant in Oct 1722 and Captain in May of 1725. He was a selectman and one of the prominent men of the town. He was a large landowner and bought and sold land with the Wests in Kent, Conn. and Lee and Lennox families in Mass. He married his second wife, Rebecca Parker.

• iii. Mercy "Marcy" Hatch, b. Aug. 23, 1717, d. at Falmouth, Mass. Sept. 25, 1771, Æ 55; m. Samuel Shiverick at Falmouth Nov. 5, 1741, who d. at Falmouth Oct. 7, 1771, Æ 55.

• viii. Lois Hatch, b. circa 1727, d. at Lee, Mass. July 28, 1812; m. Jan. 18, 1753 at Falmouth, Mass., Joseph Handy, who d. at Lee, Mass. betw. 1800 and 1810.

• xi. Capt. Ebenezer Hatch, b. Apr. 21, 1740 at Tolland, Conn., d. circa 1840 at Duanesburg, NY; m. Elizabeth Hatch (poss. dau. of Barnabas of Kent, Conn.) before 1768 and initially resided at Sharon, Conn. where seven children are recorded. His wife d. at Sharon Apr. 2, 1791, Æ 47. Ebenezer may have married a second wife and had additional children, but the information is sketchy and problematic.

Son of Joseph & Amy (Allen) Hatch. He married Mercy Delano on Jan. 13, 1713 in Dartmouth, MA, with whom he had six children: Amy, Joseph, Mercy, Jonathan, Lois, and Alice Hatch.

Following his wife, Mercy's death, Joseph Hatch married Rebecca (Parker) Lothrop on May 16, 1734 in Barnstable, MA, with whom he had four additional children: Lemuel, Rebecca, Ebenezer, and Timothy Hatch.

Joseph Hatch was a prominent leader in the settlement of Tolland, CT, where he was a selectman and large land owner. He bought and sold land in Kent, CT; and in Lee and Lenox, MA.

He was the first tavern keeper and the first military officer in Tolland, being commissioned Captain in 1725. He died in Falmouth while visiting relatives. He was buried in Falmouth, Barnstable County, Massachusetts Bay Colony, British Colonial America.25
