He appeared in the census in 1850 in Springfield Township, Otsego County, NY.⁸⁸ (He was listed as Albert.) He died on 29 June 1922 at the age of 81 in Cooperstown, Otsego County, NY.¹⁴⁵ James was buried in Springfield Center, Springfield Township, Otsego County, NY.¹⁴⁷ in the Springfield Cemetery.

James Anson GRIGGS and Josephine YOUNG were married on 23 October 1872.¹⁴⁵ Josephine YOUNG was born on 10 April 1843.¹⁴⁵ She died on 10 November 1916 at the age of 73 in Cooperstown, Otsego County, NY.¹⁴⁵
