9. Theodore Francis "Ted" OLLENDICK Sr. was born on 31 December 1925 in Elgin Township, Antelope County, NE.11,12 He appeared in the census in 1930 in Elgin Township, Antelope County, NE.2 He died on 12 April 2013 at the age of 87 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.12 Obituary Notes: "Theodore “Ted” Francis Ollendick, 87, of the Oakdale and Clifton area died Friday, April 12, 2013, at the Tomah Memorial Hospital. He was born on Dec. 31, 1925 to Bernard H. and Elizabeth (Baechler) Ollendick in Elgin, Neb.

He was united in marriage to Hilda J. Shives on March 1, 1946. Together they farmed in the Clifton area until 1987. Ted was a faithful member of St. Michael’s the Archangel Catholic Church in the Town of Oakdale, serving in the past on the church board and a lecture for several years. Ted proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy, serving during WWII. He was the owner and operator of Ollendick Small Engines.

His grandchildren could always be found around the shop helping out Grandpa. Ted was an avid deer hunter and was known for telling a good story. He was truly devoted to his family. His family reached out to him for guidance, strength and support, he was their “rock”. Ted loved his big family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a proud Grandpa and was active in their lives.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Hilda; three sons, Theodore P. (Karen) of Sparta, John (Marcia) of Tomah, and Michael (Dawn) of Oakdale; eight daughters, Ruby (Larry) Smith of Warrens, Peggy (Terry) Tiber of Oakdale, Helen (Ron) Krueger of Sparta, Joan Brieske of Wilton, Barb (Jim) Fleming of Westby, Phyllis (Jan) Brandau of Wilton, Sherry (Bob) Conant of Tomah, Judy (Bill) Mecozzi of Tomah, 43 grandchildren, 85 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Salber of Marathon, Wis. Francie Salber of Brownsville, Minn., Bernadine (Dave) Sloan of Ariz.; two brothers, Henry Ollendick of Dubuque, Iowa, Chuck Ollendick of Hills, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Kay Ollendick of Dickyville, many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Ollendick; a son-in-law, Darold Brieske, a granddaughter, Terri Lynn Powell, a great-granddaughter, Braelyn Brooke Fleming; two brothers, Fritz (Ivy) and Donald, five sisters, Maria (Lawrence) Hayes, Clara (Walter) Dorn, Louise (Tom) “Butch” Smith, Minnie (Al) Kavalage, Theresa (August) Moser, a brother-in-law, and sister in-law, Ernest and Ruby Stephenson; a sister-in-law, Jean Ollendick; and his father in-law and mother in-law, Clarence and Zelma Shives.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church, Indian Creek. Rev. George Graham will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by Hanson-Stark-Leith-Paeth American Legion Post # 508."

Theodore Francis "Ted" OLLENDICK Sr. and Hilda Jeese SHIVES were married on 1 March 1946 in Oakland, Alameda County, CA.4,13,14,15,16 at St. Frances de Sale Catholic Church. Hilda Jeese SHIVES, daughter of Clarence SHIVES and Zelma DUKES, was born on 12 June 1925 in Chico, Butte County, CA.17,18 She died on 13 February 2015 at the age of 89.18

Obituary Notes: "Hilda Jesse (Shives) Ollendick, 89, peacefully left this world to her heavenly home Friday, Feb. 13, 2015. Hilda was born June 12, 1925, to Clarence and Zelma (Dukes) Shives in Chico, Calif.

Hilda was raised in California. She was united in marriage to Theodore “Ted” F. Ollendick March 1, 1946, and they moved to Nebraska, and began raising a family. They also lived in Iowa, but spent most of their 67 years together in Wisconsin.

She was a faithful member of St. Michael’s the Arch Angel Catholic Church, Indian Creek, and a member of the PCCW. She was very active in her community and a member of several different area clubs. Hilda was very artistic and loved drawing, painting her mushrooms and tending her garden. Hilda was a loving mother who was very proud of her family and enjoyed spending her time with them and her grandchildren.

She is survived by three sons, Theodore P. (Karen) of Sparta, John (Marcia) of Tomah, and Michael (Dawn) of Oakdale; eight daughters, Ruby (Larry) Smith of Warrens, Peggy (Terry) Tiber of Oakdale, Helen (Ron) Krueger of Sparta, Joan Brieske of Wilton, Barb (Jim) Fleming of Westby, Phyllis (Jan) Brandau of Wilton, Sherry (Bob) Conant of Tomah, Judy (Bill) Mecozzi of Tomah; 43 grandchildren; 91 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Salber of Marathon, Francie Salber of Brownsville, Minn., Bernadine (Dave) Sloan of Arizona; two brothers-in-law, Henry Ollendick of Dubuque, Iowa, Chuck Ollendick of Hills, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Theodore “Ted” F. Ollendick; infant son, Phillip James; her parents; son-in-law, Darold Brieske; granddaughter, Terri Lynn Powell; great-granddaughter, Braelyn Fleming; her sister, Ruby Stephenson; brother-in-law, Ernie Stephenson; and nephew, Clarence Stephenson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2015, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Indian Creek. The Rev. George Graham will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E.
