He was confirmed on 7 June 1863 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.³¹ at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. After 1865 William was a farmer in Oakdale, Oakdale Township, Monroe County, WI.^3,13 He appeared in the census in 1870 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.⁹ His surname was spelled "Rodder" and his occupation was "Farmer." His household was next to that of his parents. He appeared in the census in 1880 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.¹³ His occupation was listed as "Farmer." William appeared in the census in 1900 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.¹¹ His occupation was "Farmer."
