2. Christian Wilhelm Friederich ROEDER was born in 1810 in Pruetzledorf, Posen Province, Preussen (Prussia).2,3,4,5,6 (The Oak Grove Cemetery records list his surname as "Roder.") He emigrated in July 1857 from Gornitz, Kreis Filehne, Bromberg Regierungsbezirk (District), Posen Province, Preussen (Prussia).7,8 He appeared in the census in 1870 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.9 His surname was listed as "Rodder" and his occupation was "Farmer." Christian died on 15 October 1875 at the age of 65 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.2,5 He was buried in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI. (His surname is spelled "Roder" on his gravestone.)

Christian Wilhelm Friederich ROEDER and Anna Juliana "Julia" TORNOR were married on 25 April 1835 in Gross Kotten, Kreis Filehne, Bromberg Regierungsbezirk (District), Posen Province, Preussen (Prussia).1,2,3,10,11 (According to the 1900 Census, they had 9 children, of whom 7 were living at the time.) Anna Juliana "Julia" TORNOR, daughter of (Unknown) TORNOR and (Unknown) UNKNOWN (TORNOR), was born on 16 June 1813 in Gornitz, Kreis Filehne, Bromberg Regierungsbezirk (District), Posen Province, Preussen (Prussia).2,4,6,10,11,12 (Her birth date was listed as Sep 1814 in the 1900 Census. The Oak Grove Cemetery and Registration of Death records also list her birth year as 1814.) She emigrated in July 1857 from Gornitz, Kreis Filehne, Bromberg Regierungsbezirk (District), Posen Province, Preussen (Prussia).2,7,8,10 to Hartford, WI and then to Tomah, WI. She appeared in the census in 1870 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.9 (She was listed as "Julian.") Julia appeared in the census in 1880 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.8,13 She was living with her son John and his family. She appeared in the census in 1900 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.11 She was living with her son William and his family. She died on 8 August 1901 at the age of 88 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.2,4,10,12,14

Obituary Notes: "Died, Thursday, Aug. 8th, at the home of Mr. Wm. Roeder, Mrs. Anna J. Roeder in the 88th year of her age.

Anna Julia Tornor was born June 16, 1813, at Gorntz, near Bromberg, Germany. In 1835 she was married to Mr. Christian Roeder of Pruetzledorf, Germany. For forty years they lived happily together, remaining until 1858 in Germany and then coming to this country, settling first in Hartford, Wis., and after a residence there of a few years coming to the town of Tomah, where they spent the remainder of their lives. Mr. Roeder passed away in 1875.

Eight children were born, seven of them still living. On Dec. 22 eight years ago Mr. August Roeder, the second child, died. The living are Mrs. Wilhelmina Werner of Hartford, Wis,; Mrs. Caroline Bernhardt of Wilton, Wis.; Mrs. Henriett Schwandt of Beaver Dam, Wis.; Mrs. Julia Deuchler of Clifton and William Roeder, John Roeder and Mrs. Bertha Bartles of Tomah, Wis. Besides these she leaves one sister, Mrs, Caroline Gafke of Germany, and 44 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren.

For the past nine years, Mrs. Roeder has made her home with her son, Wm. Roeder, of Bear Creek. She has always been affiliated with either the Lutheran or Methodist churches. Her death due to old age came Thursday, Aug. 8th, aged 87 years, 1 month and 22 days. The funeral was held Saturday, Aug. 10th, from the M. E. Church in Tomah, the pastor Rev. C. E. Butters conducting the services. The large concourse of people followed the remains testified to the high esteem in which Mrs. Roeder was held." Julia was buried on 10 August 1901 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.6,10

Gottlieb ROEDER was born about 1852 in Preussen (Prussia).4 He emigrated in July 1857 from Germany. He appeared in the census in 1870 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.9 He was living with his parents and his occupation was "Works on Farm." Gottlieb died before June 1900 at the age of 48.11,15 (He was not listed in the 1900 Census or as a survivor of his sister Ernestine when she died in April 1926.)
