2. Arthur ROWLEE was born on 27 July 1857 in La Salle Township, La Salle County, IL.^3,4 (The 1900 Census lists his birth date as July 1856.)

. He appeared in the census in 1860 in Greenfield, Grundy County, IL.¹ He appeared in the census in 1870 in Mazon Township, Grundy County, IL.⁵ He was living in the household of Barnabas and Sophia Hitchcock and was attending school. (His name is listed as "Arthur Rolley.")

. Arthur appeared in the census in 1880 in Waltham, La Salle County, IL.⁶ He was living in the household of A. I. Hartshon (?) and his occupation was "Servant." (The Ancestry.com census index lists his name as "Auther Rowley.")

. He appeared in the census in 1900 in La Salle Township, La Salle County, IL.² His occupation was "Lock Tender, I.M.C."

. He appeared in the census in 1910 in Waltham, La Salle County, IL.⁷ His surname was spelled "Rowley" and his occupation was "Farming, Gardening."

. Arthur appeared in the census in 1920 in Wood Township, Wood County, WI.⁸ His occupation was "Farmer, Truck Garden."

. He appeared in the census in 1930 in Port Edwards, Wood County, WI.⁹ He was a Widower and was listed as an "Inmate."

. He died on 26 May 1932 at the age of 74 in Wisconsin Rapids, Wood County, WI.^3,4

Obituary Notes: "Arthur Rowlee, 75, died at the County Home for the Aged on Thursday at 11:30 o'clock, following an illness of two weeks. Death was caused by a stroke. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the home of Mrs. William Ward in Nekoosa, with Rev. C. A. O'Neill in charge, and interment was made in the Pittsville cemetery.

Mr. Rowlee was born on July 27, 1857 in La Salle, Ill. and has been a resident of Central Wisconsin for fourteen years. Forty six years ago he was united in marriage to Nelly Gorbet, who preceded him in death. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. William Ward, one son, Frank Rowlee of Dexterville, with whom he made his home until recently, and eight grandchildren."

Arthur was buried in Pittsville, Wood County, WI.⁴ in the Pittsville Founders Cemetery. (According to the 1920 Census, his father was born in Michigan and his mother in Ohio.)

Arthur ROWLEE and Nellie Rebecca GORBET were married on 20 October 1887 in Ottawa, La Salle County, IL.^3,10 According to the 1910 Census, they had 3 children, of whom all were living at the time. The Burdick Springer Family Tree on Ancestry.com lists only one named child, Ionia, but the 1900 Census lists an older brother and sister, Frank and Estelle.

Another source indicates that they adopted another daughter, but that child is not mentioned in his obituary.
