Rudolph RUSS Sr. was born on 15 April 1860 in Grunbach, Neunkirchen District, Niederosterreich (Lower Austria), Osterreich (Austria).^3,4,5,6 (His Naturalization Certificate in 1892 lists his birth place as "Austria." The 1910 Census lists it as "Aust. Germany," while the 1930 and 1940 list it as "Germany."). He emigrated in 1884 from Osterreich (Austria).³ He was naturalized on 17 October 1892 in Chicago, Cook County, IL.⁶ His naturalization certification is recorded in Volume 34, Page 466. Rudolph appeared in the census in 1900 in Chicago, Cook County, IL.³ His household was at 1022 West 13th Street and his occupation was "Machine Hand."

(He and his wife cannot be located in the 1920 Census.) He appeared in the census in 1910 in Downer's Grove, Dupage County, IL.⁷ He was a "Lodger" in the household of August and Jennie Roske at 162 Main Street and his occupation was "Machinist, Factory." He was listed as Married, with his marriage age as 26. His wife was not listed in the household.

(He cannot be located in the 1920 Census.). He appeared in the census in 1930 in Downer's Grove, Dupage County, IL.⁵ He was a "Boarder" in the household of Alex and Stella Kolski at 612 Prairie Avenue and his occupation was "Carpenter, Lumber Company." He was a "Widower" and had married at age 28. Rudolph appeared in the census in 1940 in Downer's Grove, Dupage County, IL.⁴ He was a "Boarder" in the household of Alex and Stella Kolski at 612 Prairie Avenue and he was apparently retired. He was a "Widower." He died on 29 March 1943 at the age of 82 in Chicago, Cook County, IL.²

Rudolph RUSS Sr. and Crescenz "Christentia" STETTBERGER were married on 24 May 1886 in Chicago, Cook County, IL.^1,2,3,8 According to the 1900 Census, they had 5 children, of whom only 3 were living at the time. According to the 1910, they had 6 and 3. Crescenz "Christentia" STETTBERGER^2,9 was born in June 1862 in Schwaben, Regen, Bayern (Bavaria) Province, Germany.^3,9 She emigrated on 19 September 1885 from Germany.^3,10,11 She left Bremen, Germany, and docked in Southampton, England, on the ship Elder and arrived in New York City. Her occupation was "Farmer." She appeared in the census in 1900 in Chicago, Cook County, IL.³ Christentia appeared in the census in 1910 in Chicago, Cook County, IL.¹¹ She was living with her three living sons at their household at 2016 West 13th Street in the 11th Ward. Her given name was listed as "Elease" (possibly "Grace"). She was listed as Married, but her husband was not living with them.

(She cannot be located in the 1920 Census, so she may have died before then.) She died before 1930 at the age of 68 in Illinois.⁵ (Her husband was listed as a Widower in the 1930 Census.) (Her given name was listed as "Therese" in the birth record of her son William.)
