Obituary Notes: "Venita Hanson, 95, died peacefully Thursday, Dec. 2, 2014, at Tomah Health Care Center. She was born April 29, 1919, the daughter of Oliver and Clara (Stoiber) Hanson, in Clifton, Wis. She graduated from Sparta High School and Business College in La Crosse.

In 1942, she moved to Washington D.C., and worked in federal civil service for what was the War Department at the Pentagon. She was recognized as a representative on the secretarial staff at the London United Nations Conference in January and February 1945. After retiring from the federal government, she worked as an assistant to a dentist for a number of years. She lived in Washington, D.C., until her health dictated that she return to Wisconsin in 2000.

For many years, Venita was a sharp-witted woman with a ready quip. The Health Care Center staff will remember her as a pleasant true chocoholic, milk chocolate only, no nuts or crispies! As she “wheeled” around the center she had numerous stopping points for supplies!

She is survived by her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Howard, Harland and Walter; two sisters, Bernice Kollath Girouard and Clara Mae Nelson; sister-in-law, Clara Hanson (Howard); and brothers-in-law, Raymond Kollath Girouard (Bernice) and Irwin Nelson (Clara Mae).

The family would like to thank the staff at Tomah Health Care Center for the care, love and attention they provided to Venita for the past 14 years.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Pastor Scott Mann will officiate. Burial will follow in Camp Douglas Cemetery, Camp Douglas, Wis. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the church."
