75. Bernice Marie HANSON was born on 14 May 1912 in Clifton, Clifton Township, Monroe County, WI.^17,77 She died on 1 October 2014 at the age of 102 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.⁷⁷

Obituary Notes: "Bernice M. Kollath Girouard (nee Hanson) of Tomah passed away Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014, in Tomah. She was born May 14, 1912, in Clifton, Wis., to Oliver and Clara Hanson (nee Stoiber).

She attended Tomah High School and later graduated from New Lisbon High School. Following high school, she attended Juneau County Normal School and taught in rural schools for several years.

Bernice married Raymond Kollath May 28, 1940. They had three children, all born in Washington, D.C. She retired from Fort McCoy in 1977. Bernice was an active member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church since 1951. She was most proud that all of her children were active in their respective congregations.

Bernice is survived by her sister, Venita Hanson of Tomah; her children, Nancy (Thomas) Kilen of Stoughton, Wis., James (Virginia) Kollath of Bradenton, Fla., and John (Judy) Kollath of Madison, Wis.; grandsons, Phillip (Sherr) of Avon, Ind., Jon of Bradenton, Richard of Dallas, Texas, James (Hope) of Portage, Wis., and Jason (Heather) of Pardeeville, Wis; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands, Raymond Kollath, Arthur Girouard and Max Martin; brothers, Walter Hanson, Harland Hanson and Howard Hanson; a sister, Clara Mae Nelson; a sister-in-law, Clara (Howard) Hanson; and a brother-in-law, Irwin Nelson.

Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014, at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 310 W. Elizabeth St., Tomah, Wis., 54660. Pastor David Dahl will officiate. Burial will follow in the Camp Douglas Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at Close to Home for the care and love they provided to Mom for the last 12 years.
