Joseph Ferdinand "Joe" HUBERT, son of Ferdinandus HUBERT and Marianna STAWICKI, was born on 8 April 1859 in Posen Province, Preussen (Prussia).22,30,31,33 (It is very likely--but must be confirmed--that his parents were Ferdinand Hubert and Marianne Sobiech, who were born in 1825 and 1822, respectively, in Prussia. According to census records, they emigrated to Buffalo, NY in 1883. The 1900 Census indicates that Ferdinand and Marianne had 5 children, of whom 3 were living at the time. Two of their known children were Lorenz and John, and the other three were not known--with only one of them still living at the time. Joseph is known to have been born in Prussia and also emigraged to America in the early-1880's. After marrying, he and his wife moved to Wisconsin because his wife's parents had moved there from Buffalo; his parents and other siblings remained in Buffalo. Considerations that would seem to indicate that Joseph was part of the family were: (1) His birth year (1859) fit with the births of Lorenz (1848) and John (1866); (2) It may have been a coincidence, but Joseph's middle name--Ferdinand--was the same as his suspected father, and he named one of his sons Ferdinand, as well; and (3) Joseph's suspected older brother, Lorenz, married Amelia Sonnenberg, an older sister of Joseph's wife, Albertina. His parentage is yet to be confirmed with a birth, marriage or death certificate.) . He emigrated in 1881 from Preussen (Prussia).2,22,28 (The 1900 Census listed his emigration year as 1882.)
